We did some gymnastics and used our bodies to create different gymnastic shapes. Here is a video of us. We love having Mark come and work with us. A few weeks ago we worked through a process to make a game together as a class. Today we started working together to make a new game in pairs. First we thought about the some of the following things: - whether we wanted a board game or card game - will we use dice? - will we use money? - will it be a race to finish? - How many players will there be? and will each player need a counter? Next we started drawing what our game would look like and writing the rules. After that we had a chat with another group. We talked through our game and how to play it. They then gave us positive feedback and gave us some advice to improve our game further. Have a look at the video of us below having our chats. We also created our own pirates and ship and made a display for everyone to see. During the week Room 10 reading groups also made pirate treasure map. Come to our classroom and check it out!
We made our artwork for the Allenton School Fair using fingerprints and a stencil to create a New Zealand Map. The national anthem is written in Te Reo Maori.
We called it Aoteraoa - It's in our DNA because it is a map of NZ (Aotearoa) and our fingerprints we used to make it show our DNA. At the moment we are learning about fractions. We found some videos to help us. We want to try it out at home so thought we would put them on the blog to find them easy. There is a year 1 video, Year 2 video and even a Year 3 video for the experts in our class. This morning the Kahurangi Dance Theatre group came to Allenton School. They wanted to share with us about Māori culture, customs and language. They did lots of dances for us and used things like poi, taiha and rakau. We thought they were really amazing dancers and were very funny. Today Room 10 transformed into a class of Taniwha. Can you guess who is who? This term our topic is called 'Playing Around'. In this topic we are looking at different games - how you play them, materials used etc. We will then use the technological process to create our own games. Here is some pictures of us trying out new games. We had so much fun! This week is Maori Language Week. We have been learning lots of Te Reo. Here are some photos of us labelling body parts in Te Reo on our life size activity sheets. The M&M girls have been creating a blog to tell people about how they can help save different sea creatures. Today they presented their blog to the class. Have a look! Today was the last day of reading interchange. We have been practising using expression in plays. Here is some videos of the Crunchies, Moros and Flakes groups. |
